Sit back and enjoy a ride through the Hunter Valley behind steam power!

Help us celebrate the return to active service of steam locomotive 5917. Fresh from a two-year overhaul at the Hunter Valley Railway Workshops, the 1952 Baldwin-built 5917 will lead the Singleton Express from Broadmeadow to Singleton over the Mother’s Day weekend.

Our train departs from Broadmeadow railway station, picking up at Maitland. Enjoy our air-conditioned lounge cars with a complimentary glass of champagne on boarding. Choose our High Tea option, served in our ex-Indian Pacific dining car or ride in our air-conditioned sitting cars. For private parties, we have the option of First Class open-windowed compartments.

You’ll have time at Singleton to visit a variety of cafés and pubs or take stroll around this historic town before reboarding.

On the return journey, The Singleton Express will whisk you back home through the golden afternoon sun.
